MTD InfraPerdana Bhd has forecast 5% to 6% growth in revenue from toll operations this year, thanks to sharp increase in traffic volume from the East-West Link Expressway.

Group managing director Datuk Azmil Khalili Khalid told reporters after the company's EGM in Kuala Lumpur yesterday the forecast was conservative as the highway connecting Karak and Kuantan had already recorded quarter-to-quarter growth of 5% this year.

There are about 9,200 vehicles plying the highway daily and the traffic peaks on Saturdays and Sundays.

Azmil said the company expects to complete the acquisition of Metramac Sdn Bhd from sister company Metacorp Sdn Bhd for RM245mil by October.

Metramac, the current owner and operator of the East-West Link Expressway (Karak-Kuantan) and Sungei Besi Expressway, will start contributing to the group by the third quarter of the financial year ending March 31, 2006.

The acquisition, he said, was aimed at consolidating the three group's toll road operations under a single entity to enhance and streamline management and marketing.

The three highways together are expected to generate more than RM200mil revenue annually for MTD Infra, he said.
